After a gloomy start to summer, sunshine was a welcomed guest at yesterday’s annual block party which celebrates HillQuest’s Urban Guide. The 8th Hop in the ’Hood featured the fabulous Laura Jane as emcee and the best music in Southern California. Daniele Spadavecchia’s trio started the day followed by Sven and the Women’s Drum Circle before the Flower Power Parade was won by “Phil, a Work of Art” then back to music with Sue Palmer’s Motel Swing featuring the fabulous April West on the trombone. Councilman Todd Gloria stopped by the Hop as the afternoon finished up with Shawn Rohlf & 7th Day Buskers, Tribal Beat, Deejah Marie and Rhythm & The Method. Thanks to everyone for making it such a wonderful celebration. Especially Shui Chiropractic & Wellness andVitality Chiropractic Center for presenting the movie “Food, Inc.”
Here’s a slideshow of Sunday’s fun.
Rest up for a few days cause the parties continues next weekend with San Diego LGBT Pride. The rally kicks off Friday evening at 6pm in Balboa Park. The parade is next Saturday followed by a two-day festival.
