Hillcrest residents and business owners are encouraged to attend Tuesday night’s Uptown Planners meeting beginning at 6pm in the Joyce Beers Community Center. This is the community group that handles land-use issues. This month’s agenda include: the latest design for the remodel of the Von’s grocery store at Dove and Washington streets. Representatives of Safeway (Von’s parent company) will answer questions from the Planners and the audience.
In addition, the advisory committee will hear a request for support from San Diego Pride for their parade and festival on the weekend of July 18-19. A group of business and property owners and residents are asking for support of a proposed Uptown Streetcar. The Planners will discuss taking a position on density for the use in the Uptown Community Plan update and will hear, as an information item, a proposed joint statement by University Heights CDC, Bankers Hill/Park West CDC and the future Five Points CDC.
