Transportation options in San Diego
Airplanes
San Diego International Airport is just down the hill from Uptown. A one-way taxi ride should run $10-15. To connect with public transportation, catch the Route 992 bus from the airport to downtown and transfer at Fourth Avenue to any of Routes 1, 3, 16 or 25. Here are two landings (from both the south and north side of the plane). To see squadrons of classic airplanes head to the Aerospace Museum in Balboa Park.

Electriquettes
This electric powered wicker chair was the exclusive way to get around the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. Thanks to Sandor Shapery they will return for the centennial in 2015.
NEVs
Neighborhood Electric Vehicles
Electric power 2013…and beyond! Plug ’em in and watch ’em go. (25 mph maximum) Perfect for the HillQuest gals to get around town! We’ve had them two since 2004 — love them (and not having to depend on gasoline to get around the neighborhood.
Skyfari
Love this aerial tram within San Diego Zoo — it’s the most spectacuar shortcut across the width of the zoo. Look to the west and northwest for views of the skylines of Bankers Hill and Hillcrest.
Streetcars
The first streetcars arrived in Hillcrest in 1888 and ran until 1949. Mission Hills, North Park and Kensington all developed along streetcar routes passing through Hillcrest.
Will they be returning to North Park?!?
Trolleys
San Diego’s light rail system, the trolley, loops around the periphery of Hillcrest. Convenient transfer stations include Fashion Valley and Old Town. From Old Town, catch the 908 Bus to Hillcrest. From the Fashion Valley Transit Center take any of Routes 16, 25 or 980/990.
All San Diego trolley and bus routes are wheelchair accessible. Specific information concerning wheelchair usage (PDF file).
