This year’s Hop in the ’Hood will be held on Sunday, July 5th in the 3700 block of Seventh Avenue. The Flower Power Parade will kick off at noon followed by cake and ice cream for one and all. The block party’s live entertainment will begin at 10:30 and run through 6pm featuring Mistress of Ceremonies Laura Jane, the San Diego Women’s Drum Circle, Danielle Lo Presti & the Masses, Rhythm & the Method, the Kings of Paradise, Sue Palmer’s Motel Swing, Sam Johnson Jazz Duo and Kim Evans.
Please join the fun…one block south of Whole Foods on Seventh Avenue. Promptly at noon a mini-Rose Bowl parade will circle the street and win awards. Participants may setup in the AT&T telephone company lot on Seventh Avenue just south of Robinson at any time during the morning. Organizers are encouraging everyone — kids and adults — to enter a bike, trike, wagon, etc. with at least half of the float’s decorations consisting of real flowers or plants.
Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Everyone’s welcome. As a bonus (as usual) there is no entry fee for any float. No RSVP. Each float will win a prize. All entries should be a tricycle, bicycle, wagon or a combination of wheeled vehicles with at least half of the decorations grown from plants. No motors, all floats must be powered by people (or animals) only. Bonus points for creativity!
The top float will receive an inscribed traveling trophy.
