“I am a Hillcrest resident on Richmond Street and have been watching with dread the transformation of the intersection at 163 and Washington Street. I am very aware of the problems this intersection has had as my apartment balcony used to overlook the corner of Washington and Richmond and I was able to hear and see just about every accident. However, I’m not sure I agree with the City’s solution to this problem. For me to access 163, I have to turn right onto Washington, then U-turn at Lincoln.
Since the new light began functioning, this intersection has been a mess, and I’ve often had to sit in the intersection when it was my time to go. Although this has been irritating, it was doable. Yesterday on my way to work, I noticed that the City (or whoever is making these decisions) has decided to rectify this problem by retracting our right to make a U-turn at Lincoln. Now, in order to get to work every morning, I must either break the law or go out of my way to find another route to the freeway. Is there anything that can be done about this problem or anyone I can contact to express my concerns? I would appreciate any help you can give me.”
