The lights are on..but nobody’s home

Anybody out there know why the Casa de Baffi and Pernicano’s signs are back on (day & night) now? They need a few bulbs replaced and much cleaning, but the lights are glowing even though the restaurants (closed now for over two decades) remain dark. George’s little house in the back corner of his empty parking lot has been razed, too.
Sunday evening three police cars were parked along Sixth Avenue to check into a reoccuring problem — transients breaking in to steal metal for recycling.

Pernicano's sign in Hillcrest, March 2007

Here’s a little update re: the Casa de Baffi and Pernicano’s signs that glowed over Hillcrest for the past week. Owner George Pernicano stopped by his long-closed property on yesterday (following another break-in by transients)…“the #%*@! bastards took my cart and loaded it up with copper from my restaurant. The basement also has water damage from them cutting up my #%*@! pipes to recycle them, too.” George didn’t have any idea that someone had accidently turned on the switch to his signs. Bet they’re off tonight.
