50,000 March from Balboa Park to the Bay
A sea of white shirt-clad demonstrators marched through the heart of San Diego today in one of the largest protests in city history. 350-500K marched in Dallas. (Rally in St Louis, too).
The message was clear… “Today we march, tomorrow we vote” and “Si, se puede! (yes, we can!)” was chanted while the white wave of walkers made its way from a morning rally at City College to the gathering spot at Kalmia and Laurel in the park before marching to the County Administration Center at the harbor (and back!). The March for Dignity, Respect and Hope had been planned for two weeks by a broad coalition of Latino community groups, religious leaders, students and their friends.
