Curb ramps have already been installed…as well as islands in the middle of Sixth Avenue to the north and south of Spruce Street, but for years the city has been reticent to answer community wishes for a crosswalk. (Odd since they seem to be popping up around other San Diego neighborhoods.) This intersection would connect the community of Bankers Hill, and the area’s largest hotel, with the new children’s playground in Balboa Park. (click proposed design above to enlarge)
On Wednesday, June 27 the city reevaluated the intersection to see if it gets enough pedestrian use to warrant some white paint. Cross your fingers & toes!
