Thank you for your support both over the years and in response to this week’s nasty GLT editorial accusing us of “nepotism” and asking one of us to resign from the HBA board. (I’ve been a member since 1983 when I worked for the SD Gayzette; Nancy is an involved vice president). The two of us love Hillcrest and work constantly to make it a better place to call our home.
In January, at a request which surprised us, the marketing committee of the HBA asked about purchasing the back cover to promote their farmers market and Tuesday Night Out in our 2009-2010 book. In appreciation of the consideration, we put together a package worth much, much more.
As boardmembers with two separate business licenses, Nancy and I abstained from every vote. After board approval months ago, we moved forward with our side of the bargain. One disgruntled boardmember with a burr up her butt took the matter to the city in search of impropriety on behalf of the HBA board. To put the matter to rest, two weeks ago we voluntarily refunded the payment and removed them from our next publication which will begin distribution the end of June.
