The folks who are organizing this summer’s 36th annual LGBT events have announced a second town hall meeting to share details surrounding Pride’s 2010 weekend celebration on July 17 and 18.
The gathering will begin at 6:30pm on Monday, May 3 at The Center, 3909 Centre Street, just north of University Avenue. Board members and staff will field questions and collect input regarding this summer events, which will again include a mile-long parade through Hillcrest on Saturday, July 17 followed by a two-day festival in Balboa Park.
“In our commitment to keep the community informed on the organization’s progress, we will share the steps we are taking to ensure that this year’s Pride events and many more to come are memorable and exciting for all who attend,” according to board co-chair Judi Schaim. Since a new Pride board was installed this year, they have reinstituted the optional two-day festival pass and extended discounts on festival tickets if purchased up to a day before the event. The new prices will be $15 per day or $25 for a weekend pass. The board has also introduced a series of parade workshops and briefings that will continue throughout May and June, and they are currently reviewing numerous nominations collected from the community for this year’s Pride awards. Honorees will be announced in May. Volunteer registrations and parade and/or festival applications are available on Pride’s website. Learn more by attending this town hall meeting or calling
