Hillcrest’s newest business — Naked Pizza, a rapidly expanding chain of carryout and delivery pizzerias that serves pizza made with all-natural ingredients — opened their doors on Thursday at the former location of L&L Hawaiian BBQ (3803 Fifth Avenue),
just north of Robinson Avenue.
In 2009 Naked Pizza was launched in New Orleans with the intent of improving the nutritional quality of people’s diets while using the fast food franchise model as “a Trojan horse,” to reach a mass audience. Naked Pizza is committed to serving a healthier fast food option. All of their crusts are made with natural ingredients and are probiotic, so they are better for your digestive system, and they are lower in calories. Choose from thin, regular or a gluten-free crust. They offer a number of vegetarian options as well as meat toppings. Their pizzas are all natural, with no preservatives, no hormones and no antibiotics. A small pizza starts at only $4.99.
Last month they opened in Pacific Beach. The chain plans to develop 20 additional stores in the San Diego market over the next two years. Stop by and welcome Naked Pizza to the neighborhood.
