2007 was memorable for our neighborhood for several reasons including…
• Hillcrest was designated as one of the nation’s top 10 great places in America.
• The Hillcrest Town Council was formed by residents.
• An array of fun events were held throughout 2007 to celebrate our neighborhood’s first centennial.
• Hillcrest got seven (now six) community boundary signs.
• Superior judge ruled against 301 University development.
• Interim Height Ordinance was drafted by the City of SD.
• The Hillcrest History Guild buried a time capsule in the Vermont Street Bridge. (It will be opened in 2107.)
• The first Hillcrest Restaurant Week was held.
• March of the Penguins was shown on the rooftop of Whole Foods.
• Hillcrest Clean Team continued quarterly efforts.
• House of Heirlooms was deemed historic by the City.
• Washington Mutual held their first “Smile” contest.
