As you stroll through Hillcrest and surrounding areas, you might run across a different kind of peace sign. University Heights artist John Chandler has been creating and distributing peace talismans as public art for seven years. John’s concept is twofold. The first part is spreading peace through the energetic power of the word itself. Collectively we have the power to create a peaceful planet through positive thoughts and deeds. Seeing the word peace in an unexpected place will bring the thought to the forefront of our minds, and positively impact our actions and interactions.
The second aim of the peace project is to promote peace with one another. Open yourself to reconnect with someone; be willing to forgive and to take the first step toward reconciliation. Look for peace within yourself and grow toward a more compassionate existence. This year John’s peace talismans are in brick form. Distribution began around the community in December and will continue throughout January. Check out John’s web site (chandlerspiritworks.com) for location clues. Help create peace.
