Hillcrest graffiti removed thanks to volunteer labor
Weekend weather has been perfect for the beach, but four community activists volunteered a total of six hours to spruce up the neighborhood for all of us. Yesterday morning these community-minded folks (Bob Martynec, Susan Fosselman & Luke Terpstra shown at left, along with team leader Tim Gahagan) removed graffiti from several Hillcrest locations. Thanks!!!
Recently taggers had vandalized utility boxes throughout the community, but Tim who leads the Hillcrest Town Council’s (HTC) Neighborhood Improvement Committee (NIC) organized Saturday’s casual event and outreached for volunteers to remove and/or paint over 
the graffiti.
In a mere hour and a half of labor these four community activists removed 30 graffiti tags (note before and after photos from Robinson Avenue). For more info about helping with the volunteer effort come to monthly HTC meetings or email Tim Gahagan.
This month’s meeting (Tuesday, September 14) the Hillcrest Town Council will present a forum on the upcoming ballot measure Prop D re: sales tax increase. It will be held at the Joyce Beers Center on Vermont Street beginning at 6:30pm with speakers Jan Goldsmith (City Attorney), Eduardo Luna (City Auditor), Tom Shepard & Associates (for the mayor) speaking for YES on D, and Carl DeMaio advocating for NO on D. There will be 20 minutes for questions and answers.
