Last Saturday afternoon during (and following) the Pride parade the Atlas Social Committee hosted their 2011 Atlas Summer BBQ. The event, held in the beautiful courtyard and adjacent community room was attended by owners, residents and their guests.
It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon reconnecting with members of the community, and meeting so many new ones. Thanks for the hospitality and fun!! The Social Committee comprised of Bill Ash, Joy Hutcherson, and Jean Kirkpatrick worked diligently to bring together this event under the warm San Diego summer sunshine. The chair of the Atlas Social Committee, Bill Ash, stated “One goal of this event was to fuse together Atlas residents with the community we live in. Hillcrest and its vast diversity is something to celebrate and I believe we accomplished that goal.” Ash went on to say, “We had dozens of residents thanking us and sending us notes, it has been such a joy seeing the community come together.”
With food catered by San Diego’s famous Phil’s BBQ and Origano, balloon hats, dancing boys, a DJ and very tasty adult drinks, this event brought out the best in everyone. (Here’s Bill Beck and David Huskey)
Atlas Board of Directors in attendance included, Chris Johnson, Ilya Chorny, Chuck Merino and Adam Canter who had this to say following the event: “There were lots of owners I met for the first time yesterday, so it was really nice that the majority of the community came together for this event, and others I spoke with at the party echoed those sentiments. There is a real positive buzz about Atlas as a result, so it was a very positive thing for our community.”
Charles Johnson from the Architectural Committee flew in for the event with his wife. Even the community Managers Bob McGowan and Rebecca Kim were seen mingled amongst the crowd. Several days after the event, San Diego and more directly Hillcrest, is still buzzing about this great summer party….and already looking forward to next year’s.
