The Chinese New Year Dance and Foxtrot Lessons (last Thursday) proved to be another winner in the on growing circle of Senior Dances sponsored by Park & Recreation Senior Services. Balboa Park Club, brightly decorated, rendering a happy note, and well attended, was swaying gently to the rhythm of music. For the first hour, well known dance instructor, Russell Mapes took the dancers through Foxtrot Lessons. Slowly, step by step, the dancers kept pace and smiled, as the beat moved up to a rhythmic beat. The Sundance Band rendered a beautiful variety of tunes from a soft melodic waltz to an up beat two-step, which kept everyone on their toes. For this performance, the band used their three-piece combo.
This versatile group (made up of Dennis Robinson-Linda McCormic-Barry Amundsen) really added spark to our Chinese New Year Dance. Info? Visit their website. (HillQuest’s Seniors in Motion page)
