Over 25 residents and business owners attended the monthly meeting of the Bankers Hill Residents Group Monday evening at Hillcrest Optical. Seven of the 11 candidates for the newly reformed Uptown Parking Advisory Board introduced themselves and were asked to answer two questions: (1) How can this board improve Bankers Hill for both residents and businesses? and (2) What do you feel are the parking, circulation and pedestrian safety issues facing the neighborhood?
Business candidates in attendance were Clyde Dugosh (Inscriptu); Ann Garwood (property owner); Doug Scott (Keating House Bed & Breakfast), and Dr. Brian Shui (Shui Chiropractic & Wellness Center); with resident nominees: Charlou Benedict, Gary Bonner and Al Weiss. Each of the candidates were endorsed by those in attendance.
Elections will take place next Monday, January 23 from 5-7pm in the Santa Fe Room of the Balboa Park Club. (Bring proof of residence or business ownership to vote). The newly-elected board members will form the nexus of the Bankers Hill/Park West Parking Committee charged with investing 45% of the meter money collected from neighborhood parking meters. The first meeting of the fully seated Uptown Parking Advisory Board will take place on Monday, January 30.
