Stonewall Citizens’ Patrol volunteers will receive SD Police Department training at the LGBT Center (3909 Centre Street) next Thursday at 6:30pm. City Councilmember Toni Atkins will address the volunteers and thank them for their dedicated service.
The Stonewall Citizens’ Patrol is a volunteer crime patrol operating in the neighborhoods of Hillcrest, North Park and University Heights. With nearly 30 volunteers armed with training from the police department, the volunteers take turns patrolling the streets on Thursday through Saturday evenings. In addition to patrolling, the organization focuses on educating the public on crime awareness and prevention. The public and any prospective volunteers are welcome to attend the meeting to get a first hand look at how the Stonewall Citizens’ Patrol operates.
