KPBS episode of Wonderland tonight & Friday to feature Hillcrest

Noah Tafolla is the producer of Wonderland, a popular KPBS series that features great San Diego neighborhoods. Last November he made a tour around Hillcrest with his cameraman to film segments for an episode that will debut on KPBS tomorrow night. Noah’s first stop was an early morning lesson at Bread & Cie with its multi-talented owner Charles Kaufman who taught him the craft of baking perfect artisan loaves at the bakery & cafe, 350 University Avenue. Next, Noah visited the Crest Cafe where he talked to the father-daughter team of Luis & Cecelia Moreno along with her cousin Ruben Medina (left) who oversees the kitchen. After waiting tables he tried his hand at grilling a butter burger and other tasty dishes in the homey cafe located at 425 Robinson Avenue.

The following day Noah took a tour around Hillcrest in the HillQuest 4-seater electric car and learned a little history of our neighborhood with publishers Ann Garwood & Nancy Moors (also founders of the Hillcrest History Guild). Noah then spent a month weaving together a wonderful piece on our neighborhood which can be seen for the first time tonight on KPBS (Cox channel 11).

Set your TIVO or tune in this Wednesday, January 5 at 10:30pm (or again early Friday morning at 4:30am) to see Noah’s Wonderland episode featuring Hillcrest. Enjoy!!
