Under gray San Diego skies, approximately two hundred union and LGBT activists convened beneath the palms in front of Doug Manchester’s downtown Hyatt hotel.

Scheduled to speak to the International Franchise Association, convened at the hotel, yesterday afternoon was former-President Bill Clinton. (Shown protesting above with “thumbs down to Manchester” are local activists Alex Sachs and Bob Leyh.) Bill crossed a union-sanctioned picket line (although he may have tried to change the location) and faced a crowd of LGBT protesters who were angered by the hotel owner, Doug Manchester’s, contribution of $125,000 toward the passage of California’s Prop. 8 which eliminated marriage equality in our state….
